A total of 155 women from five (5) Muslim Women Associations in Zamboanga City were trained by the TESDA 9 – Regional Training Center (RTC) – Zamboanga Peninsula in Bread and Pastry Making from January to February, this year in partnership with the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos – Regional Office IX.

The five associations are based in barangays Sinunuc, Limpapa, Tulungatong, and Sitio Gapuh and Sitio Mulu-Mulan in Barangay Talabaan.

These training programs, which focused on making donuts of different kinds, binangkal, egg tart/pie, and cheese bread, are designed to equip them with new skills for self-employment. With the opening of classes and markets, these skills would allow them to make food products for sale in their respective communities.

The RTC trainer, Ms. Sheba Pallar, believed that with the interest shown during the training and the eagerness to engage in livelihood activities, these women would be able to augment the income of their families.

TESDA and NCMF inked a partnership on skills training, Halal standards and curricula development and facilitation of employment on January 31, 2022.
