The Machining NC II Qualification consists of competencies that a person must achieve to set up and operate a variety of machine tools to perform precision machining operations.

COMMON COMPETENCIES
Interpret working drawings and sketches
Select and cut workshop materials
Perform shop computations (Basic)
Measure workpiece (Basic)
Perform shop computations (Intermediate)
Measure workpiece using angular measuring instruments
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance

CORE COMPETENCIES
Perform bench work (Basic)
Perform bench work (Complex)
Turn workpiece (Basic)
Turn workpiece (Intermediate)
Mill workpiece (Basic)
Mill workpiece (Intermediate)
Grind workpiece (Basic)
Grind workpiece (Complex)

A person who has achieved this qualification is competent to be:

  • Machinist
  • Lathe operator
  • Milling machine operator
  • Precision grinding machine operator
  • Bench worker/fitter
