A bakery for the Zamboanga City Jail Female Dormitory soon!

In partnership with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) – IX and Zamboanga City Jail Female Dormitory, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority – IX through the Regional Training Center-Zamboanga trained 25 female Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) on bread and pastry production in preparation for a bakery project.  This project is funded by the DOST -9 under its Grant-In-Aid Program for Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology. Started on 12 February 2024, two (2) trainers from the TESDA IX- Regional Training Center-Zamboanga, Mrs. Sheba Pallar and Ms. Sheva Fuentevilla, took turns in conducting training on bread making, cake making, pastry products making, and petit fours making to equip these women with the necessary skills for the bakery project.  The training program ended on 01 April 2024 with a short closing program.

JSINSP Sitti Benzone A. Abdulahab, Zamboanga City Jail Female Dormitory Warden, expressed her gratitude to both DOST 9 and TESDAS 9 for this project.  She praised the RTC-Zamboanga trainers for bringing out the best in the trainees that enabled them to produce quality bakery products. The trainees also thanked TESDA for the skills gained that they could also use for livelihood undertaking once they are released.

TESDA gives priority to its special clients such as PDL, PWDs, OFWs, solo parents, drug surrenderers, and farmers/fisherfolks, indigenous people, to name a few.
